Tour!

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 27, 2006, 1:10 AM
Got back from an Arts tour to New Zealand a little while back, just uploading some of the shots now. It was a great trip, two of our three ensembles took out top honours, and the other one, WS, got a silver award.

More school

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 25, 2006, 1:13 AM
Well, school is doing a really good job at the moment of eating up all my free time (gawd, it gets busy in year 11 & 12, I didn't realise how much..), so I've done very little photography as of late.

I got a few shots at a little City gathering on a weekend a few weeks back of a few of my school friends, three of them are on here now. There's also been one or two other randomish things, but they're not really good enough to be on this gallery. :)

I think that my tastes in photography are changing a bit -- I really want to do portrait work at the moment, but use ideas and techniques from the experimental stuff that Shadow and I do in Lightwizards. It isn't an easy thing at all, but hopefully when school holidays come round, something will happen with that. We do have plans laid out, very secret ones, though. :D

Dead Dolphin

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 5, 2005, 5:47 AM
Ack.. it turns out that my old faithful first-series Dolphin torch has a dead battery. *sigh* So until I get a new one, torch work is going to be either of lower quality or simply not present. Pfft. I jerry-rigged myself a litle lightstick out of a piece of dowel, an LED, a 10ohm resistor and a battery pack, and it works quite nicely, I think. My next project will be to make a three-LED one, sturdier, with staged switches. Tehehe, that will be fun.

Progressions

It's always interesting to take a step back and look at your own work from the past and see how things have changed since then... when I look back, some things I see as rubbish, but others I see as important steps to getting where I am... fascinating.

At the moment, I'm just doing a bit of a general update... cleaning up my userpage, new devID, etc. But there should be more serious shots on the way at some point, provided school doesn't eat me again.. which it probably will soon enough. *sigh*

Shameless Plug: And anyone who's actually reading this, please visit ~lightwizards. We've got some good shots on there, but it really struggles for views or comments. :D

Spring has sprung

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 17, 2005, 10:31 PM
Well, it's springtime again in the southern hemisphere... so I figured I'd jump on the seasonal bandwagon and get some nice pretty bird and flower shots... including my little friend, the bee, who actually co-operated and stayed still long enough to have his picture taken. And I didn't even say thankyou to him. I'm such a mean bastard sometimes...

In other news, I have a remote for the D70 now (a cheap universal remote that just so happens to make the right signals), so I can finally do some really long exposures (although there's a hard limit at 30 minutes, which kind of sucks), and we also have some slave flashes and lighting gear.. which features in the latest couple of shots over on the ~lightwizards account. Whee... there's still a week of holidays left, so I should be able to get some good stuff over the next few days... wish me luck!
